    Color Done Right

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, I love..., inspiration, real weddings, wedding decor

    A while back 100 Layer Cake featured this wedding, photographed by Michele M. Waite, and I have to say it’s one of my favorite weddings to date simply because of the way the color scheme was done. The bride, Melanie, wanted a wedding that was bright and vibrant, but also soft and timeless. I love how she put the wedding party in fun and vibrant colors…

    …and used soft muted tones for the reception…

    You would think that these colors might clash, but on the contrary, it’s quite stunning! This just goes to show that you don’t have to have one set color scheme for both your ceremony and reception. I hope we see a growing trend of multiple color schemes for weddings. It’s such fun and definitely keeps things fun for the guests.

    Melanie also had her bridesmaids carry balloons down the aisle which I thought was a fun idea! For more of this wonderful wedding visit Michele’s blog and 100 Layer Cake.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part V {The Favorite}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Gold, Green, Magenta, Pink, Season: Fall, Season: Winter, Teal, Theme: Fun, Theme: Glamour, Theme: Rock and Roll, Theme: Romantic, Theme: Vintage, White, inspiration, trends

    As most of you know, I absolutely love color, so doing these color predictions was really fun for me. The hard part, though, is picking a favorite. Since I am drawn to all different types of color for different reasons, it’s been hard for me to narrow it down, but I think I narrowed it down enough to a few colors. =) Below is a color palette for my favorite combination of colors from our color predictions for 2010. I’ve added in a dark gold to this palette. I love the dark gold alternative to the bright metallic golds we have been seeing lately.

    What is your favorite?

    Color Predictions for 2010, part IV {The Darks}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Black, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Grey, inspiration, trends

    The Darks

    (navy blue, black and grey)

    While I think black will always remain a classic color for weddings, interiors and fashion, navy blue is still coming on strong as it’s contender. Navy has a preppy and classic look to it, and can be used in place of black in almost any circumstance. Gray has been popular for some time now, and while I don’t think it can replace black completely, it’s a nice alternative to black or navy blue.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part III {Muted Brights}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Coral, Green, Peach, Pink, Season: Fall, Season: Spring, Season: Summer, Yellow, inspiration, trends

    Muted Brights

    While bright colors are still a popular accent for weddings and interiors, I think a more muted palette of these same colors will be a popular addition this year. These colors are incredibly versatile and are perfect for spring and summer weddings.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part II {The Lights}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Cream, Season: Spring, Season: Summer, Season: Winter, White, inspiration, trends

    The Lights

    (white and cream)

    We saw the pairing of these two neutrals together in 2009, and I think we’ll see even more of it this year. I love the classic look these colors can give. Pair them with gold and black or chocolate brown and you have an incredibly chic palette.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part I {Sultry Jewel Tones}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Green, Magenta, Pink, Red, Season: Fall, Season: Spring, Season: Summer, Season: Winter, Teal, inspiration, trends

    Sultry Jewel Tones

    Paired with muted colors or making a statement on their own, these colors are sure to get more attention this year. I love them not only for weddings, but interior design as well. That bedroom pictured bottom left, by Kishani Perera, is absolutely to die for.
