    Simply Stripes

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, inspiration, invitations, trends, wedding decor

    While black and white damask has had it’s time for popularity, I think stripes are an incredible alternative to damask. Stripes can be in any color, but I’m seeing mostly black and white or navy and white. I’m definitely excited about this growing trend and can’t wait to see how brides and event planners incorporate it into more weddings and events!

    Color Predictions for 2010, part V {The Favorite}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Gold, Green, inspiration, Magenta, Pink, Season: Fall, Season: Winter, Teal, Theme: Fun, Theme: Glamour, Theme: Rock and Roll, Theme: Romantic, Theme: Vintage, trends, White

    As most of you know, I absolutely love color, so doing these color predictions was really fun for me. The hard part, though, is picking a favorite. Since I am drawn to all different types of color for different reasons, it’s been hard for me to narrow it down, but I think I narrowed it down enough to a few colors. =) Below is a color palette for my favorite combination of colors from our color predictions for 2010. I’ve added in a dark gold to this palette. I love the dark gold alternative to the bright metallic golds we have been seeing lately.

    What is your favorite?

    Color Predictions for 2010, part IV {The Darks}

    Posted in: Black, BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Grey, inspiration, trends

    The Darks

    (navy blue, black and grey)

    While I think black will always remain a classic color for weddings, interiors and fashion, navy blue is still coming on strong as it’s contender. Navy has a preppy and classic look to it, and can be used in place of black in almost any circumstance. Gray has been popular for some time now, and while I don’t think it can replace black completely, it’s a nice alternative to black or navy blue.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part III {Muted Brights}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Coral, Green, inspiration, Peach, Pink, Season: Fall, Season: Spring, Season: Summer, trends, Yellow

    Muted Brights

    While bright colors are still a popular accent for weddings and interiors, I think a more muted palette of these same colors will be a popular addition this year. These colors are incredibly versatile and are perfect for spring and summer weddings.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part II {The Lights}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Cream, inspiration, Season: Spring, Season: Summer, Season: Winter, trends, White

    The Lights

    (white and cream)

    We saw the pairing of these two neutrals together in 2009, and I think we’ll see even more of it this year. I love the classic look these colors can give. Pair them with gold and black or chocolate brown and you have an incredibly chic palette.

    Color Predictions for 2010, part I {Sultry Jewel Tones}

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, Blue, COLOR PALETTE, Color Trends, Green, inspiration, Magenta, Pink, Red, Season: Fall, Season: Spring, Season: Summer, Season: Winter, Teal, trends

    Sultry Jewel Tones

    Paired with muted colors or making a statement on their own, these colors are sure to get more attention this year. I love them not only for weddings, but interior design as well. That bedroom pictured bottom left, by Kishani Perera, is absolutely to die for.

    Beautiful Balsa Wood

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, do it yourself, eco friendly weddings, floral design, Fun finds, inspiration, trends

    Talk about an heirloom from your wedding day, balsa wood floral bouquets are the next big thing in floral design for weddings I do believe. These beautiful, forever lasting arrangements are a perfect choice for any celebration and are eco-friendly to boot.

    1

    There are different options when it comes to wood flowers. If you are do-it-yourself kind of gal, Save On Crafts stocks some great options at fairly good prices as well.

    Table Talk

    Posted in: BLOG CATEGORIES, trends, wedding decor

    There are basically two different table setups you can do at weddings. That is long banquet style tables and round tables that fit anywhere from 8-12 people each. Of course, round tables make it easier to carry on conversations, but the long banquet tables allow for unique centerpieces and regal feeling seating arrangements. For a unique look, try a combination of both.

    Checkerboard Love

    Posted in: home decor, inspiration, trends, wedding decor

    Its easy to forget about the floor when you are planning a wedding or decorating your house. Most floors at weddings are mainly plain, however some ballrooms or rented floors have the classic checkerboard pattern. I absolutely love the look of these floors, especially when paired with the right colors. They add such an amazing feeling to a room or event space.

    Luxurious Linens

    Posted in: inspiration, trends, wedding decor

    When I think of linens, I think table cloth and napkins. These days linens not only include table cloths and napkins, but chair covers, cushions, table runners etc. I am always amazed at how you can turn an ordinary table into a luxurious retreat with the right linens. Below are some of my favorite examples, all from Wildflower Linen.
