Ah, Engage! 11. Such an amazing experience I don’t know where to start, so lets just start with day 1. My traveling companion and room mate, Ariel Yve and I arrived at The Grand Del Mar around lunch time, checked into registration where we got our amazing swag bags, then headed off to lunch. Registration had the most amazing floral dress, designed by Aileen of Karen Tran  Florals.

These two pictures were taken by yours truly. The one of the dress up close has my swag bag, as well as the folder we got with our attendee book and some other goodies.

The picture above is by Mel and Co. It’s me with Leila Khalil, Angel of Events of Love and Splendor and Constance Curtis. Fun catching up with these girls at registration! After we got all checked in, we wandered around The Grand Del Mar and I, of course, had to take pictures of the amazing surroundings of the hotel, as well as our ultra luxurious room!

A little sneak peak of our room, and my not so professional panorama of the view. Pictures by, again, yours truly.

After we had lunch and wandered around a little bit, it was time for the opening sessions with Simon T. Bailey and David Beahm. Both speakers were amazing, but David really hit home. He was down to earth and hilarious. His speech made a huge impact on me, and I think probably everyone in the room. At the end of his speech the word “Breath” came on the screen, and classical music started playing. David then talked us through a meditation and read inspiring quotes as we sat there and calmly listened. So effective!

Our session was in the chapel of the Grand Del Mar and as you can see, it’s incredibly stunning! Since this post is turning into one lengthy novel, stay tuned for Day 1, part II coming up soon!

Working in the wedding industry, you get to meet lots of amazingly talented people. The Santa Barbara area especially has some incredible talent, so I’ve decided to start a series of post dedicated to the fabulous wedding vendors in the Santa Barbara area.

Kicking off the series is the fabulous Nico Cervantes of Nico Designs. I had the pleasure of meeting Nico a few months ago and continue to be absolutely amazed at his talent. He definitely has a knack for style and color, as well as keeping ahead of the trends in the industry. He’s been featured recently on Wedding Chicks and Style Me Pretty, and is definitely one to keep an eye on! Be sure to follow him on twitter and become a fan on Facebook. Below is some of his recent work that I’m completely head over heels for.

Utterly Engaged, the new e-zine by Eva Chiou of Red Velvet Occasions, and Lucia Dinh and Henny Setiadi of D*LSH Design, is a definite must read. Although I am a huge fan of the, dare I say old fashioned, magazine, this e-zine has an amazing layout, and wonderful tips for the budget savvy bride. Just take a look at some of the features from Issue #2.

Definitely add this to your list of good reads.

Beginning in the year 2011, you could have the option to be married in Outer space! That’s right. Japanese company First Advantage, has teamed with American aerospace firm Rocketplane to offer you the opportunity to tie the knot 100 kilometers (62 miles) above earth!
For a cool $2 million, the lucky couple can invite two more guests and a priest to Oklahoma, from where the space ship will take off. The price also includes a custom wedding dress that will withstand the zero gravity in outer space, a party (to take place on earth), accommodation and travel expenses, and live broadcasts from outer space.
Worried about the binding laws of outer space? Have no fear. All licences and certificates are issued in Oklahoma, as this is the state the rocket/plane takes off from.
Anyone want to give it a try? =)
